Crude palm oil (CPO) futures prices on Bursa Malaysia Derivaties closed higher today on technical rebound after suffering four consecutive trading days of losses, dealers said.

They said CPO prices rose almost 4.2% today, recovering from its 10-month low as sharp gains on crude oil prices at US$117 per barrel helped lift the edible oils prices. At the close, the benchmark third month October contract climbed RM72 to settle at RM2,620 per tonne.

CPO futures for a August and September contracts rose RM69 each to end at RM2,622 and RM2,620 per tonne respectively while November contract settled RM65 higher at RM2,215 per tonne.

Turnover fell to 14,088 lots from Wednesday’s 15,949 lots while open interests rose to 52,667 contracts from 52,639 contracts previously.

In the spot market, August South was higher at RM2,620 per tonne versus RM2,600 yesterday.
