Crude palm oil (CPO) futures prices on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed mostly higher yesterday amid soaring crude oil prices, a dealer said.
There was some profit taking, which resulted in the benchmark month May futures closing slightly waker after hitting a record high Tuesday, but the general sentiment remained firm amid strong overseas demand, he said.
“The becnhmark May contract closed lower by RM1 to RM3,624 a tonne today (Wednesday) compared to yesterday’s (Tuesday) all- time high of RM3,625,” he said.
As for other traded months of CPO futures, spot March 2008 gained RM15 to RM3,623 a tonne, April 2008 rose RM5 to RM3,630 while June 2008 expanded by RM3 to RM3,624.
Total volume decreased to 15,454 lots from 17,127 lots Tuesday as participants turned more cautious with CPO prices charting new territory almost every day.
Open interest dropped to 43,567 contracts from 46,651 contracts previously. On the physical market, March south closed unchanged at RM3,630 per tonne. - Bernama
